چکیده

To date, KEK has developed cleaning techniques for superconducting niobium RF cavities. These include: electro-polishing (EP), buffered chemical polishing (BCP) barrel polishing (BP), high pressure rinsing (HPR), megasonic ]lot water rinsing, degassing water, ozonated water cleaning, waste water treatment, and so oil. In this paper, we present findings from electro-poloishing of cavities, which was investigated during the previous two years, and front several newly developed water cleaning technologies

Review of New Shapes for Higher Gradients

High gradient superconducting RF (SRF) cavities are needed for energy frontier superconducting accelerators. Progress has been made over the past decades and the accelerating gradient Eacc has been increased from a few MV/m to 42 MV/m in SRF niobium cavities. The corresponding peak RF magnetic field Hpk on the niobium cavity surface is approaching the intrinsic RF critical magnetic field Hcrit ...

Vacuum Evacuation Effect on Ichiro 9cell Cavities during Vertical Test

We have continued high gradient R&D of ICHIRO 9cell cavities at KEK. The maximum gradient of ICHIRO 9-cell cavity #5 that has no end group on beam tubes was still limited around 36MV/m so far. The 9-cell performances were sometimes limited by triggered field emission (FE) by multipactings. We suspected the residual gas in the cavity might be one of the sources of triggered FE. The cavity was cl...

BOOSTER CAVITY AND FUNDAMENTAL POWER COUPLER DESIGN ISSUES FOR bERLinPro∗

HZB has started building the 50MeV, 100mA demonstrator energy-recovery-linac (ERL) facility bERLinPro. The high power injector system needs to deliver this beam at 6.5MeV by combining the energy gain of a 1.4 cell SRF photo-injector and three Cornell style 2-cell booster cavities. One booster cavity will be operated at zero-crossing for bunch energy chirping. Thus two booster cavities have to d...

Rf Input Power Couplers for High Current Srf Applications

High current SRF technology is being explored in present day accelerator science. The bERLinPro project is presently being built at HZB to address the challenges involved in high current SRF machines with the goal of generating and accelerating a 100 mA electron beam to 50 MeV in continuous wave (cw) mode at 1.3 GHz. One of the main challenges in this project is that of handling the high input ...

Developments on a Cold Bead-pull Test Stand for Srf Cavities

Final tuning and field profile characterization of SRF cavities always takes place at room temperature. However, important questions remain as to what happens when the cavity is cooled to LHe temperature, in particular with multi-cell systems. To enable the characterization of cavities in the cold, we have designed and commissioned a "cold bead-pull" test stand at HZB. The present test-stand is...
